NEW YORK -- It was an exciting win for the Detroit Red Wings but a scary moment for center Jacob de la Rose.
After a beautiful assist on Andreas Athanasiou's second-period goal on a 2-on-1, de la Rose experienced an accelerated heart rate and left the game.

After the 3-2 victory over the New York Rangers, Wings coach Jeff Blashill said the Wings took de la Rose to the hospital for precautionary reasons.
Assistant athletic trainer Russ Baumann accompanied de la Rose, who will not travel with the team to St. Louis for the Wings' next game.
"We hope everything is fine," Blashill said. "He'll spend the night here, go home and see a specialist and make sure everything is good. We want to be extra cautious with it."
During the second intermission, the training staff alerted Blashill that there was a problem.
"I was told that as I was getting ready to walk out," Blashill said. "I think he probably felt it and went to the training staff and the training staff checked him and it was accelerated and they couldn't get it to slow down in time. And so, at that point in time you get him to the hospital to make sure. I think it's all precautionary right now, but he'll go back and see a specialist to make sure."
The Wings want to be cautious because this is not the first time de la Rose, 23, has had a heart issue this season.
When de la Rose was with the Montreal Canadiens, he experienced what was called a "cardiac issue" after the Canadiens' final preseason game against in Ottawa.
"I can't say it's the exact same," Blashill said. "I know that was the issue he had there. Was it caused by the same reasons? Was it exactly the same? I can't say. Both were, from my understanding, accelerated heart rates."
