San Jose Sharks captain Logan Couture loves to read and while we all may find ourselves with a little more time on our hands, he wanted to share his favorite hobby with the rest of Sharks Territory. Take a look at his first review:
Since I'm a fan of legal thrillers and John Lescroart is an incredible San Francisco-based author, I decided to start my book club off with "The Rule of Law" by John Lescroart.
See below for my full review!
Title: The Rule of Law
Author: John Lescroart
How many pages: 322 pages - I read the hardcover copy of the book, so some copies may differ in total pages.
Why did you pick this book: I picked this book because I've read all of the Dismas Hardy series. I got into John Lescroart novels five years ago and fell in love with his writing and characters instantly. Dismas and Abe Glitsky are two of my favorite characters I've come across in the books I've read.
Review: The Rule of Law is a solid novel and a very easy read. The plot has two different centers, Dismas and his longtime secretary are charged in a murder. The second focus is on Dismas' former partner Wes Farrell, who was defeated as the San Francisco District Attorney. Dismas and his friends try to get themselves out of trouble from their pasts.
With this novel being the 18th in a series, it may be hard for the average reader to jump in. If you enjoy this novel I suggest ordering some of Lescroart's older novels and really getting into this series.
Rating: My rating for the novel is 4 out of 5. A good read, but middle of the pack when compared to the rest of the series,
How long did it take me to read it: I get through books pretty quickly especially when I enjoy them. I finished this on in 4 days.
What I'm reading next: My next read is "Dark Matter" by Blake Crouch. I hope you can join me in reading along!
