The game will consist of three standard 20-minute periods with 15-minute intermissions. There is no power-play or penalty kill time and any penalties during the game will result in an automatic penalty shot. After the conclusion of the game regardless of the score, there will be a five-round shootout between the two teams.
During the broadcast, fans will be able to send in their questions live via Twitter and will have the opportunity to hear them answered on the broadcast. Viewers will also be able to hear from various players, personalities and Sharks hockey staff during the contest, providing their commentary on the scrimmage.
Many of the organization's top prospects are expected to participate, including Sasha Chmelevski, John Leonard, Alexei Melnichuk, and Brinson Pasichnuk who all made their respective NHL debuts in 2020-21, along with Ryan Merkley, Ozzy Wiesblatt, and 2021 seventh-overall selection William Eklund.
A significant number of the players in attendance will comprise the roster of the 2021-22 San Jose Barracuda and will be competing to earn a roster spot on the San Jose Sharks.
