You, the fans, have spoken and crowned Brock McGinn's Thor impression the champion of the Fans' Choice Storm Surge Tournament, presented by Storm Brew.

McGinn's original Thor Surge knocked out Evander Holyfield's one-punch KO of Jordan Martinook in the championship match-up.
"It's pretty awesome beating Evander and Marty in the finals," McGinn said with a grin. "We really look forward to getting back to PNC and hearing that arena rock."

Following a 4-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets in their first home game of 2019, the Canes gathered in a circle at center ice and clapped in unison with the crowd. The celebration culminated with McGinn spiking his stick into the center dot while his teammates fell to the ice from the resulting shockwave. The move was reminiscent of Thor striking his Stormbreaker axe into the ground in the blockbuster film "Avengers: Infinity War."

CBJ@CAR: McGinn leads new Storm Surge celebration

The Surge's popularity - already catching headlines and striking some nerves - soared. At the time, Majority Owner Tom Dundon called the celebration the "best one yet."

The Thor Surge was an instant fan-favorite, and reenactments blossomed. Mike Maniscalco and Shane Willis offered their version on a FOX Sports Carolinas broadcast later that January.

Youth hockey teams adopted it as their own.

Though the player representation is slightly off, the Thor Surge can be seen in NHL 20.

And, it's even a wallpaper.

The celebration was so popular that it made a return in the 2019-20 season with added visual effects. Remix!

Did you have the original Thor Surge going all the way in your bracket? (I had Holyfield KO topping March Madness in the final.)

Can the Canes top the best of the best from this group of 32? Here's to seeing what the team comes up with for the next Storm Surge - hopefully sooner rather than later.
