"Brock led the Chicago Steel to a Clark Cup and two Anderson Cups in just three seasons, and he brings that championship pedigree to our organization," said Waddell. "His ability to promote on-ice success while managing a development program made him a strong candidate for the position, and throughout the interview process, it became clear that he was the best fit to lead the Wolves."
Sheahan, 38, was named an assistant coach of the Steel in 2018-19 and began the following campaign as Chicago's associate head coach before earning midseason promotion to head coach on Dec. 1, 2019. He led the Steel to consecutive Anderson Cups in 2019-20 and 2020-21 as USHL regular-season champions, and in his first full season as head coach, Chicago won the 2021 Clark Cup as league champions. Sheahan, the winningest head coach in Steel history, posted a 100-27-12-3 regular-season record and added an 8-3 record in the playoffs. Prior to coaching in the USHL, Sheahan spent five seasons coaching college hockey, serving as an assistant coach at Notre Dame (2013-14) and Holy Cross (2014-18).
Sheahan played collegiately as a defenseman at Notre Dame, earning 33 points (4g, 29a) in 161 career games from 2004-08 and serving as an alternate captain in his final season with the Irish. He spent most of his professional career in North America, registering 74 points (14g, 60a) in 282 ECHL games with Wheeling, Cincinnati and Ontario from 2008-13 and skating in one American Hockey League game with Houston on Feb. 6, 2010. The Lethbridge, Alta., native recorded four assists in 24 ECHL playoff games in 2010 to help Cincinnati win the Kelly Cup before serving as one of the Cyclones' alternate captains the following season. Sheahan also played one season with SC Riessersee in Germany's second tier, tallying 24 points (3g, 21a) in 48 games in 2011-12.
