Canes Re-Sign McGinn to Two-Year Contract

RALEIGH, NC - Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has agreed to terms with forward Brock McGinn on a two-year, $4.2 million contract. The deal will pay McGinn $1.9 million in 2019-20 and $2.3 million in 2020-21.

"We're relieved to have this settled before going to arbitration,"said Waddell. "Brock was an important part of what we accomplished last season and we're happy to have him as part of our group moving forward."
McGinn, 25, registered 26 points (10g, 16a) in 82 games with the Hurricanes in 2018-19. The 6'0", 187-pound forward added six points (2g, 4a) in 15 playoff games during the 2019 postseason, including the double-overtime series-clinching goal in Game 7 of Carolina's First Round Series vs. Washington. McGinn has posted 76 points (36g, 40a) in 240 career NHL games with the Hurricanes and scored a career-high 16 goals in 2017-18. The Fergus, Ont., native was drafted by Carolina in the second round, 47th overall, of the 2012 NHL Draft.
