RALEIGH, NC - Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned forward Josh Leivo to the team's taxi squad from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League (AHL) and reassigned defenseman Joey Keane to Chicago.

Leivo, 28, has skated in three NHL games with Carolina in 2021-22, posting one assist. The 6'2", 192-pound forward has registered 75 points (37g, 38a) in 210 career NHL games with Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Carolina since making his NHL debut with the Maple Leafs on Oct. 10, 2013. Leivo has earned 19 points (6g, 13a) in 19 AHL games with the Wolves this season and ranks fifth on the team in points and tied for fourth in assists. He also ranks tied for second on the team in power-play goals (4) and game-winning goals (3). Leivo has recorded 143 points (57g, 86a) in 190 career AHL games with Toronto and Chicago from 2012-22. Prior to turning professional, the Innisfil, Ont., native tallied 176 points (74g, 102a) in 193 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) games with Sudbury and Kitchener from 2010-12. Selected by Toronto in the third round, 86th overall, of the 2011 NHL Draft, Leivo signed with the Hurricanes as a free agent on July 28, 2021.
Keane, 22, has recorded 15 points (2g, 13a) in 29 AHL games with Chicago in 2021-22 and leads all Wolves defensemen in assists and points. He has registered 65 points (11g, 54a) in 111 career AHL games with Hartford, Charlotte and Chicago from 2019-22, and he was named to the AHL All-Rookie Team and represented Hartford at the AHL All-Star Classic in 2019-20. The 6'0", 187-pound blueliner skated in his first NHL game of the season against Vancouver on Saturday, and he has now played two career NHL games from 2021-22, both with Carolina. Prior to turning professional, Keane recorded 102 points (21g, 81a) in 195 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) games with Barrie and London from 2016-19. During the 2017-18 season, he was a teammate of Hurricanes forward Andrei Svechnikov with Barrie and served as one of the Colts' alternate captains. The Chicago, Ill., native also spent the 2015-16 season with Dubuque of the United States Hockey League (USHL), registering 11 points (2g, 9a) in 55 games. Selected by the New York Rangers in the third round, 88th overall, of the 2018 NHL Draft, he was acquired from New York in exchange for Julien Gauthier on Feb. 18, 2020.
