RALEIGH, NC - Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned goaltender Alex Lyon to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Lyon, 28, stopped 27 of 29 shots faced to earn a win in his Hurricanes debut against the Blues on Saturday. He has now registered a 7-7-2 record, 3.14 goals-against average and .895 save percentage in 23 career NHL games with Philadelphia and Carolina. The 6'1", 201-pound netminder has played three AHL games with the Wolves in 2021-22, posting a 2-1-0 record, 2.35 goals-against average and .891 save percentage. Lyon owns a 77-55-22 record, 2.74 goals-against average, .912 save percentage and six shutouts in 152 career AHL games with Lehigh Valley and Chicago. Prior to turning professional, Lyon earned a 50-29-14 record, 1.88 goals-against average, .931 save percentage and 15 shutouts in 93 career NCAA games with Yale from 2013-16, where he was twice named ECAC Goaltender of the Year and was selected as a finalist for the Hobey Baker and Mike Richter awards in his final season with the Bulldogs. The Baudette, Minn., native also made 99 USHL appearances with the Cedar Rapids Roughriders and Omaha Lancers from 2011-13, posting a 52-37-4 record, 2.73 goals-against average, .912 save percentage and five shutouts and earning All-Rookie Team (2011-12) and Second All-Star Team (2012-13) recognition.
