Lyon Recall

RALEIGH, N.C. - Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled goaltender Alex Lyon from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Lyon, 28, has skated in 22 career NHL games with the Philadelphia Flyers since making his NHL debut on Jan. 31, 2018, earning a 6-7-2 record, 3.21 goals-against average and .893 save percentage. The 6'1", 201-pound netminder posted a 1-3-1 record, 3.33 goals-against average and .893 save percentage in six games with the Flyers last season. Lyon has registered a 2-1-0 record, 2.35 goals-against average and .891 save percentage in three AHL games with Chicago in 2021-22, and he now owns a 77-55-22 record, 2.74 goals-against average, .912 save percentage and six shutouts in 152 career AHL games with Lehigh Valley and Chicago. Prior to turning professional, Lyon earned a 50-29-14 record, 1.88 goals-against average, .931 save percentage and 15 shutouts in 93 career NCAA games with Yale from 2013-16, where he was twice named ECAC Goaltender of the Year and was selected as a finalist for the Hobey Baker and Mike Richter awards in his final season with the Bulldogs. The Baudette, Minn., native also made 99 USHL appearances with the Cedar Rapids Roughriders and Omaha Lancers from 2011-13, posting a 52-37-4 record, 2.73 goals-against average, .912 save percentage and five shutouts and earning All-Rookie Team (2011-12) and Second All-Star Team (2012-13) recognition.
