The National Hockey League has finalized dates for the 2020 NHL Draft and the beginning of free agency, both of which were pushed back on the calendar due to the pause during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2020 NHL Draft, which was originally set to take place in Montreal in June, will now take place virtually on Oct. 6-7.
The first round will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m., while the remaining six rounds will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 7 beginning at 11:30 a.m. Broadcast information is yet to be announced.
The Carolina Hurricanes own the 13th overall pick, originally belonging to the Toronto Maple Leafs, in the 2020 NHL Draft. The Canes also hold seven additional picks, including two in the second round.
Free agency, which typically begins on July 1, will open at noon on Friday, Oct. 9.
