10.27.22 Pesce Mailbag

RALEIGH, NC. -Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Brett Pesce was kind enough to join us for this week's edition of the Segra Mailbag.
Currently tied for the league-lead with his +10 rating, here's what #22 had to say in regard to your questions.

(Note: Some questions have been edited for clarity.)
Do two-week long road trips help with team chemistry? Would you consider it something that makes the team closer? - @OneTrueZach
"Yeah, for sure. Especially a road trip like the one we just had, when we didn't play that many games. We had a bunch of off days. Obviously, you know guys are without their families, so we all just hang out with each other all day, all night, and I definitely think it brings us closer."
What's the thing you miss the most when you are away on long road trips? - @emilullbrand
(Note: We think Brett answered this one as something he missed \about* being on the road.)
"I missed going out to dinners."
So, where is your favorite place to go out to dinner?
"I like Miku Sushi in Vancouver."
Did you get it while you were there?
"I did. I actually went and then we had it after the game as well."
What's your order?*
"I get the Salmon Oshi roll."
The defensive pairings have gone through changes each of the last few seasons. How does it feel knowing that you and Brady Skjei have remained such a consistent pair for Rod? - @Erich\_K8
"I just think we read off each other pretty well. At this point we play together so much it's almost second nature to to know where he is on the ice. Obviously, he's one of my closest buddies on the team, which which helps the chemistry develop even more. It's just a treat to play with him and he makes my life so much easier."

Which teammate, past or present, do you feel like you've learned the most from? - @JWS2253
"I would probably say Jordo Jordan Staal]. I was 20 when I first came here and just watching him do what he does, how he prepares for games and carries himself throughout every day. He's taught me a lot."
**Which forward, either on the Canes or league-wide makes your job most difficult? - [@MihaM93

"I would probably say Brad Marchand. He's good, man. He's so silky. We've obviously played him and his team quite a bit. He's a tough one to handle."
What is different about this year's team compared to last year? - @ChonkersSpeedwayCEO
"I just think it's our depth. We've got so much depth up and down the lineup. You know, if anyone's got an injury, you're getting replaced by you someone who can fill that spot in a split second. You need that to be a playoff team, to contend for a Stanley Cup. Kudos to management for going out and getting a bunch of pieces."
Does it make you nervous that your dad is on Twitter - @johnnybolla**
"Yes and I will leave it at that."

Which teammate had the best Halloween costume and why was it Teuvo Teravainen? - @CaniacZach
"I think Derek Stepan actually had the best costume. He dressed up as Burnzie and it was hilarious.
Turbo's was funny, but he's always funny. He's great to have around for a good laugh."
Who was the biggest surprise at the team's Halloween party? - @csc92hokie
"I would say Stefan Noesen. He was the clown that carries around the red balloon (Pennywise).
He was honestly creeping me out all night. I didn't know he had it in him like that."
