RALEIGH, NC. -Jesper Fast's overtime winner last night made Thursday's first travel day of the playoffs that much easier for the Carolina Hurricanes.
Up 2-0 in the best-of-seven series, the team will now look to continue their momentum built on home ice as the series shifts to Long Island for contests on Friday and Sunday.

Teravainen Ruled Out For Series, MacEachern Recalled From Chicago

The gray cloud over the team's early-series advantage is the loss of forward Teuvo Teravainen.
Leaving Wednesday night's game inside the final five minutes of regulation and not returning for overtime, Rod Brind'Amour shared post-game that the Canes forward suffered a broken hand as a result of an

of the Islanders. Ruled out for at least the rest of the series, the club went to the "bullpen" first thing on Thursday morning, recalling forward Mackenzie MacEachern from the Chicago Wolves (AHL).
6-foot-2, 188 lbs., (listed in some places as 6-foot-3, 205 lbs., last year's height and weight), the forward has Stanley Cup Playoffs experience, playing in five games with the St. Louis Blues in 2020.
"He's played really well. Just watching his last stretch when he was (in Chicago), he was solid," Brind'Amour offered when asked of the MacEachern call-up. "He looks like he could jump right in here. And he may have to."
In his first year with the organization, MacEachern played in some preseason games with the Canes before spending the entirety of the regular season in Chicago. He missed several months due to a pair of upper-body injuries, but returned in a big way, playing a major role in the Wolves' attempt at a Calder Cup Playoff spot.
"He's an experienced pro who plays the right way," Canes Director of Hockey Operations Aaron Schwartz said of the 29-year-old winger. "He's a big body who gets to the net and he was clutch for Chicago in their playoff push. He's a leader."
Producing 20 points in 19 games from March 5 - April 17, MacEachern traveled with the team to New York today and is expected to be available if needed for Friday's Game Three.
Jesse Puljujarvi, who has been the lone healthy scratch at forward for Carolina through the first two games of the series, could be the first man in though.
"When you lose your top guys, there's a lot of minutes (available). Somebody has to fill them," Brind'Amour said. "It's probably not just one guy, but in general, more guys will get more opportunities, and so you have to make the most of it."

In Net

Antti Raanta has backstopped the Canes to their two victories thus far this series,
stopping 25/26 on Monday
and then
23/26 in last night's overtime win
.
Goaltending and the usage of the team's netminders was a big storyline entering the series, and although the 33-year-old Finn has emerged victorious in both outings, that doesn't mean he's a lock to start Game Three.
Despite Frederik Andersen missing last night's contest due to an illness, Brind'Amour said that he expects Raanta's regular-season counterpart to be available for tomorrow night's game.
"I imagine Freddie will get in there at some point, but Rants has played solid," the head coach said of his situation between the pipes. "He's got two wins to this point, so I don't know that we're in a rush to make any changes there."
Before starting back-to-back games in this series, Raanta had started consecutive games just once since the start of the regular season.
Pyotr Kochetkov, who backed up Raanta last night, is another option for the club in the series. The 23-year-old rookie is 2-0 in his young career against the Islanders,
including a 16-save shutout in December
.
