TRACKING THE STORYLINES:
Third Period Consistency: Entering last weekend the team had allowed just three goals through 11 third periods this season. Friday they allowed two, costing them a victory. Saturday they allowed another, tying the game for St. Louis. While the Canes were still able to achieve a positive outcome in the latter, the team will obviously hope to not have the above become a habit.
Lineup Availability: The Canes begin the six-game road trip tonight with lineup question marks remaining, a trend that started in the middle of last week. Forward Martin Necas (illness) did not play in either game over the weekend, but did skate at team practice Monday. Conversely, forward Jesper Fast (illness) did not practice last Thursday, did play in both games, but then did not practice Monday. Also up front, Nino Niederreiter (lower body) has been out since suffering an injury on October 29. He returned to practice last Thursday, participated in morning skate Friday but did not play, then once again practiced again Monday. Goaltender Antti Raanta appears to be available to play after Alex Lyon was reassigned to Chicago (AHL) Sunday. Lastly, defenseman Brett Pesce left the team's win over the Blackhawks on November 3 and has been out of action since. Monday he practiced with the team, albeit in a non-contact jersey. When asked who would be available for the meeting against the Golden Knights, Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour said it would be a "wait to see until tomorrow" thing. Further information is expected to be available after today's morning skate.
Hot Home Stretch For The Opposition:Tonight is game number four of a six-game home stand for the Vegas Golden Knights. They've beaten all three opponents that have come into "The Fortress" during the trip, Seattle and Minnesota before Vancouver, respectively. The NHL's 31st franchise hasn't lost on home ice since October 24.
Milestone Watch:Forward Teuvo Teravainen needs one goals to reach 100 in the NHL and Brady Skjei needs three assists to reach 100 in NHL.
What Color Are We Wearing?:The team will be wearing their white sweaters this evening. They will wear their white sweaters each game on this trip.
