RALEIGH, NC. - The Carolina Hurricanes will turn to Frederik Andersen in net for a second consecutive game on Monday, as they host the New York Islanders for Game 2 of their first-round series.
A noteworthy start, it will be the first time since Andersen returned from a blood clotting issue in early March that he'll play back-to-back games. #31 did not practice with the team yesterday, getting a day off after his series-opening start.
He was spectacular in Game 1 though, stopping 33 out of 34 and serving as the difference-maker in a 3-1 win.
Andersen went 13-2 with a 1.84 goals against average and a .932 save percentage during the regular season.
In front of their crease, the Canes are expected to roll with the same 18 skaters that earned them a victory on Sunday.
Rod Brind'Amour flip-flopped Seth Jarvis and Andrei Svechnikov for the third period of Game 1, but at yesterday's practice they were back in their previous spots.
Forward Jesper Fast will miss a second consecutive game due to an upper-body injury suffered in the team's regular season finale versus Columbus.
