6.7.23 Sheahan

RALEIGH, NC -After one season behind the bench of the Carolina Hurricanes' American Hockey League affiliate, Brock Sheahan is returning to his alma mater.

Notre Dame University announced on Tuesday morning that the 2008 graduate will return to the program as an Associate Head Coach, starting July 1.

"I would like to thank the Carolina Hurricanes for the opportunity to be a head coach at the AHL level last season," Sheahan said via Notre Dame's press release. "It was an incredible experience and a year that helped me get better as a coach in all areas."

Sheahan led the Chicago Wolves to a record of 35-29-5-3, but the affiliation between the Canes and Wolves has ended and the Wolves announced earlier this month that Bob Nardella will be the team's head coach for the 2023-24 season.

"We are sad to see Brock go, but we wish him and his family well as they return to a place they have long called home," Don Waddell said of the change. "Brock was a great asset to our organization, and we know he will help lead Notre Dame to continued success."

Sheahan, 39, played four collegiate seasons at Notre Dame from 2004-08, registering 33 points (4g, 29a) in 161 games and serving as an alternate captain in his final season with the Irish. He also began his coaching career as a volunteer assistant coach with the program in 2013-14.
