RALEIGH, NC. -The National Hockey League announced the 32 team nominees for the 2022-23 King Clancy Memorial Trophy Tuesday, with Carolina Hurricanes Captain Jordan Staal being named the team's representative.
The award is presented annually "to the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community."
For Staal, it is his fourth consecutive year being nominated, and at least the sixth time being selected as a member of the Canes.
"It's pretty much an automatic," Rod Brind'Amour shared of the news. "There's other guys you could say are deserving of the nomination, but while he's here, he'll pretty much be our nomination as long as he plays."

* Clear and measurable positive impact on the community

* Commitment to the League's community initiatives
* Creativity of programming
* Use of influence; engagement of others
