With the 2019-20 regular season officially over, Hurricanes.com is counting down the top 10 moments from the last year, presented by Storm Brew from our friends at R&D Brewing.

5. Sebastian Aho records a career-long 14-game point streak

Jan. 21 marked a midseason, Tuesday night home game against the Winnipeg Jets, the Canes' final game before NHL All-Star Weekend.

In the final two minutes of the first period, Sebastian Aho chased down a bouncing puck in the neutral zone. He sped around Jets defenseman Luca Sbisa to get a backhand shot off. Connor Hellebuyck fought it off, and the rebound ended up behind the net. Aho threw on the brakes to separate himself from Sbisa and grab the puck. As his momentum pulled him down to the ice, Aho centered the puck to a wide-open Teuvo Teravainen, who placed a one-time shot glove-side high past Hellebuyck.

Aho finished the night with that one assist, his 18th of the season.

The next game, Aho found the scoresheet again, this time with a goal and an assist. He was on the scoresheet the next game, too. And the next, and the next, and the next, and so on.

By the end of February, Aho had racked up points in 14 consecutive games, a new career long for the Finnish forward. It was the longest point streak in team history (since relocation), the third-longest point streak in franchise history and the third-longest point streak in the NHL in 2019-20.

Aho totaled 21 points (12g, 9a) during that 14-game stretch, which also featured a six-game goal streak, the longest of his career. Aho logged multiple points in five of the 14 games, twice recording three-point nights (2g, 1a). After posting two assists against Colorado on Feb. 28, Aho's point streak was snapped the following night in Montreal.

In total, Aho finished the shortened regular season with a career-best 38 goals in 68 games, which ranked tied for sixth in the NHL. With 12 games remaining on the schedule, it would have taken a massive dry spell to keep him from reaching the 40-goal mark, and as the team leader with 66 points, he was on track to finish right around 80 points, tickling his career-high of 83 from the season prior.

A dynamic centerman, Aho will anchor the Canes' top line when play resumes with the Stanley Cup Qualifiers.
