8.21.23 Beaulieau

RALEIGH, NC. -The Carolina Hurricanes have added another option to their blue line for next month's training camp, signing defenseman Nathan Beaulieu to a professional tryout (PTO) Monday.

Beaulieu, 30, was a first-round selection of the Montreal Canadiens in 2011 and has played in 471 games in the league since.

Skating in 52 contests with the Anaheim Ducks during the 2022-23 season, the 6-foot-2, 205 lbs. defender has totaled 12 goals and 86 assists over the course of his career, as well as 340 penalty minutes (PIM). In addition to Montreal and Anaheim, the left-handed shot has spent time with the Buffalo Sabres, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Winnipeg Jets.

Last year Calvin de Haan and Derek Stepan came to Carolina's camp on PTOs and both successfully earned contracts. Beaulieu will try to earn a spot on a defensive group that already touts Jaccob Slavin, Brent Burns, Dmitry Orlov, Jalen Chatfield, Brady Skjei, Brett Pesce, Tony DeAngelo, Dylan Coghlan and Caleb Jones.

The Canes' preseason slate gets underway on Tuesday, September 26 at PNC Arena against the Tampa Bay Lightning. To view the team's complete exhibition schedule,
